We celebrate a choral service of Holy Communion every Sunday at 10:00am. The liturgy and most of our hymns are from the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW). With One Voice and The Celebration Hymnal also occasionally supplement our singing. We follow a traditional, liturgical style, in keeping with our Lutheran confessional heritage. Pipe organ, and sometimes piano, accompany congregational song.
In worship, God is the primary actor, delivering his gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation through word and sacrament. Christ crucified for your sins is what our preaching and liturgy declare each Sunday.
Children in Worship
We welcome children in worship. A cry room is available for parents to care for their child's needs during worship if necessary. We encourage children to be active participants in Christian worship, and hope to cultivate a space in which children may hear of the forgiveness Christ Jesus bestows in word and sacrament.
Advent, Christmas, and Lent also include midweek worship here at Denny Park Lutheran.
We hold that the body and blood of Christ are truly present in the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper for the forgiveness of sins, as Christ's words recorded by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and St. Paul clearly indicate. With such a great gift, and our urgent need for it, the Lord's Supper is celebrated every Sunday, and occasionally at other times of the year for feasts and festivals of the Christian year.
Regarding who is to be admitted to Holy Communion: All are welcome to receive the Lord’s Body and Blood who are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and who believe that Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, is truly present in, with, and under the forms of bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.
Communion is typically received by inctinction (dipping) at the rail. An usher will offer directions during the distribution. Those who will not be receiving the sacrament may come forward to receive a blessing. Please indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest.
